Summer 2023 Semester:
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship...
Acts 2:42-47
Connect Groups at New Hope are smaller groups of people meeting throughout the week, both here at the church and throughout the community to study the Bible, make new friends, serve the community, and simply do life together.
Sunday Groups

Hope at Home

Dates: May 7th - July 23rd
Room: New Hope Room 4

The Christian home should serve as a model for the world as we live on fire for Christ. However, as we all know, as believers we're not exempt from the tribulations, trials, obstacles, and pains that this world throws at us. But lucky for us, Jesus Christ came to earth with a purpose and mission to set us free in Him. Join Bo and Lauren Cochran as the give practical and theologically sound steps to keep Christ—and His purposes for our lives—at the center of our home.
As Your Children Grow, Will Their Faith Grow Too? As both stories and statistics attest, the number of evangelical children who abandon Christianity in adulthood is staggering. To see effective change, parents cannot leave their child's faith to chance. Rather, families must start nurturing faith early-you cannot start once your child is grown, you must start at home. Strengthening family and home life is the best way to encourage your children to maintain a lifelong faith. It Starts at Home upholds marriage and family as the proving ground for lasting success. Join our Children's Director, Lauren Cochran and her husband, Bo, as they provide a clear purpose, effective strategy, and a simple plan for anyone who wants to be intentional in their homes.

The book of Daniel has all the makings of a great story: memorable characters, cliff-hanging moments, and incredible visions. Yet so often, we miss the point when we pay more attention to Daniel’s story than to Daniel’s God. Join Alan and Dan as we’ll learn how this fascinating biblical book ultimately points to the sovereign Lord of history, who rules over all earthly kingdoms and whose plans cannot be thwarted.

Identity in Christ

Dates: May 7th - July 23rd
Room: New Hope Room 101
Leader: Ron Creech
Childcare: Childcare is available for this Connect Group. Once you sign-up for a group, you will receive an email to sign-up for childcare, if needed.
"You are your own, and you belong to yourself."
This is the fundamental assumption of modern life. And if we are our own, then it's up to us to forge our own identities and to make our lives significant. But while that may sound empowering, it turns out to be a crushing responsibility―one that never actually delivers on its promise of a free and fulfilled life, but instead leaves us burned out, depressed, anxious, and alone.
But the Christian gospel offers a strikingly different vision. Join Ron Creech this semester as we explore how this simple truth reframes the way we understand ourselves, our families, our society, and God - instead embracing a different phrase: "I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ."
Do you have a fear of sharing Jesus with others? In this Connect Group, we'll be equipping believers for relational evangelism, removing any fear of sharing Christ with others, so that you can boldly proclaim the gospel. Join Tom Thompson as we learn how to avoid stereotypical approaches, instead sharing the gospel in natural and effective ways, while being ourselves. This incredibly practical and beneficial Connect Group will help you identify and develop an evangelical style that is effective for you, teach you how to respond to commonly asked questions, so that we may be known as those who walk with Jesus and speak the gospel with boldness, no matter the cost.

Mama Bear Apologetics

Sunday Mornings: 8:30 - 9:45 am
Dates: May 14th - July 23rd
Room: New Hope Room 103
Leader: Jacqueline McDonald
Childcare: Childcare is available for this Connect Group. Once you sign-up for a group, you will receive an email to sign-up for childcare, if needed.
The problem with lies is that they don’t often sound like lies. They seem harmless, and even sound right. So what’s a Mama Bear to do when her kids seem to be absorbing the culture’s lies uncritically? Join Jacqueline McDonald as she will help equip you, through transparent life stories and clear, practical application - including prayer strategies - to help those you care for learn how to form their own biblical beliefs about what is true and false. With a rallying cry of “mess with our kids and we will demolish your arguments,” join us as you’ll learn how to teach your kids how to think through and address issues head-on, yet with gentleness and respect.

The book of Revelation often generates curiosity and confusion. Do its visions have any meaning for us today?
Join Associate Pastor, Austin W. Duncan over the next two semesters, as he shows that rather than a mere puzzle book filled with secrets for the future, Revelation is a help for us in the here and now. When it seems the enemy is winning and opposition to the church is closing in, Revelation reminds us of our blessed hope: Jesus Christ has risen, He is reigning, and soon He will make all things new.

Pearls: Women's Group

Wednesday Evenings: 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Dates: May 10th - July 26th
Room: New Hope Room 5
Leader: Janet Wright
Childcare: Childcare is available for this Connect Group. Once you sign-up for a group, you will receive an email to sign-up for childcare, if needed.
The word FIERCE is used to describe women who are extreme athletes, high-level executives, or supermodels. Women at the top of their game. But what about the rest of us? Can we be fierce? Absolutely! In fact, women like us have been changing the world for thousands of years-many who received little fanfare yet lived fiercely anyway. Join Carol Castillo this semester as we look at lesser-known female characters in the Bible and the ways they changed the world by living into God's calling.
When the Lord gave us the Bible, He gave us a Story. It's the best and truest Story ever told.
Each story is like a pearl, beautiful and of great price on its own. But what's more beautiful is stringing the biblical pearls together. Through the Bible, we know who the Living God is, what He's like and what it is to walk with Him. But beyond just reading the Bible - we interact with it. It is living and active and so we are we. When we sit down with the Word of God, it is life with life. The Bible is like a great feast. Great food is best experienced with great people, so join Janet Wright at the biblical table for every episode of Pearls.
We are getting ready to learn over and over that the Living God is BETTER than we ever knew.

Unshakable Hope

Dates: May 10th - July 26th
Room: New Hope Room 101
Leader: Dr. Phil Roberts
Childcare: Childcare is available for this Connect Group. Once you sign-up for a group, you will receive an email to sign-up for childcare, if needed.
What does it look like for people to experience the love, power, and presence of God so strongly they're transformed from the inside out? Many people go to church when it's convenient, occasionally read their Bibles and pray, and sometimes feel close to God, but He's not the passion and purpose of their lives. They may be believers, but they're not devoted disciples. Join Dr. Phil Roberts in this Connect Group, as he gives a clear contrast between believers and disciples, and leave feeling inspired to experience more of God than ever before.
What we think about Jesus matters. Our perception of Him shapes us - what we say, how we treat others, even what we think. If we paint Jesus as any less than who He is as supreme over all creation and savior of the world, not only does our theology slip, but the working out of our faith also suffers. Join Dr. Phil Roberts this semester as he takes us through the book of Colossians to help us form a complete picture of Jesus. What we believe about Him influences everything from our corporate worship to our relationships to our attitude toward sin. Now alive in Christ, we can live a life worthy of God instead of falling back into the ways of the world.
