Happy New Year everyone!
As 2018 begins we are excited about a number of things at New Hope. This past Sunday I began a brand new preaching series that will lay out our goals for the coming year. For four years we have had our vision statement written on the wall. We desire to be a church that is Pursuing a Relentless, Unrestricted Relationship with Jesus Christ. Well, back in April of 2017 I was sitting at a pastors conference and discussing this vision with some people who are much wiser than I. One of them said, “I like the vision of your church, but have you communicated to the people of New Hope what it will take to head toward the vision?”
Another pastor asked, “If someone asked you to explain the goal of New Hope in just a few words, would you be able to do it?”
Folks, this is why I believe so strongly in connecting with other pastors, attending pastoral conferences, and thinking outside of the box. A continued emphasis on learning and growing is important to me. God was giving me an opportunity to learn from some very wise church leaders, and their questions gave me some much needed spiritual direction for the future.
Those questions drove me to multiple times of prayer and seeking the Lord’s direction. Reach, Connect, Grow, Go came from those prayers! A church that is truly Pursuing a Relentless, Unrestricted Relationship with Jesus Christ is a church that has a heart for Reaching people, Connecting them to the body of Christ, Growing in their faith, and then putting that faith into practice by Going into the world and making disciples.
My goal as a pastor is to make sure every person in our church is able to easily communicate the mission of New Hope. Reach, Connect, Grow, Go…that’s us…all for the Glory of God.
I am especially excited about this New Year’s message series because our Student Ministry and Children’s Ministry are all learning the same thing, at the same time. This week Pastor Mark will be delivering the second part of the message, Connect. And in the weeks that follow I will have some special guests from the congregation join me on stage to present how they are living out the Grow and Go portion of their walk with Christ.
Children’s Ministry Renovation Work Has Begun
If you haven’t noticed already, some light renovation work has begun in the Children’s Ministry over the Christmas break. Painting, wall repair, and some much-needed updating has been taking place. We are hoping to have this work done in a relatively short amount of time. Ms. Lauren’s goal is to have a dynamic looking Children’s space that is also more church friendly to the church-wide lunch and dinner events that take place in the Fellowship Hall.
End of the Year, Thank you!
I mentioned this at the end of the worship service on Sunday, but I want to say it again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your overwhelming generosity to the church. Not only have my family and I felt your generosity, but also the entire church staff and leadership. I can’t overemphasize how much of a blessing the people of this church have been. You are wonderful!
As a result of your faithfulness to God through giving, New Hope has been blessed with an abundance of financial resources that can be used for some great Kingdom purposes. God has proven Himself faithful to this church body. I don’t know about you, but I have been feeling that every time we gather for worship. The Lord is with us!
Let’s keep the momentum going in 2018!
