This Sunday is the first Sunday in the season of Advent. Advent is a time to celebrate the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Hope, Love, Peace, and Joy represent all the emotions that this anticipation should stir up in each of us.
This Christmas I will be preaching a sermon series called What Christmas Means. It is based on the Christmas story from the gospels, but the title itself is based on a song that I wrote a year ago for our Christmas Talent Show. At the time I remember being especially thankful for what Jesus’ birth meant for my life. Presents, Christmas lights, trees, and ornaments are all great, but I became so much more aware of how much I needed Jesus. The lyrics of the song became an outpouring of my heart and helped me to truly reflect on What Christmas Means.
As we begin this series in a week, I’d like to ask you a question. What does Christmas mean to you? I would love it if you would answer that question with a line or two. Email me your one or two sentence answer, and from December 10 – Christmas Eve, I will have some of the best answers scroll across the big screen before our worship services.
As we enter this time of Advent let us all take a moment to reflect on how wonderful it is that Jesus came to this world for us.
Here are instructions on emailing me your response.
Make sure you put “What Christmas Means” in the subject line.
