I would like to quote the great philosophers ‘Kool and the Gang’ to begin this blog as we prepare to, “Celebrate Good Times” this Sunday at New Hope. We have discussed a sanctuary renovation at New Hope for years. We began raising money for it a few years ago. The construction process began in early June, and now, all the contractors are done. There are still some little tweaks that are left to be completed, but let’s just go ahead and celebrate now!
To recap what has been done. The sanctuary is now complete with:
- New flooring
- New stage
- New stage design
- New seating
- New sound
- New video projector
- New video screen
- New multi-media capabilities
- Even some new paint!
IT’S A NEW DAY AT NEW HOPE!
God has blessed us with a beautiful sanctuary for His worship. I love how the new look of the sanctuary combines a modern/contemporary design with a nice touch of a traditional/rustic feel. There are so many thank you’s to go around for all the folks who worked hard to bring this about. This Sunday will be our chance to do that.
We want to make this Sunday special. I have called it “Easter in the Fall” from the stage, and I’m serious about that. At Easter, we invite our friends and family to church and we fill up the sanctuary to praise God. I would love to have that same “full sanctuary” feel at church this week. Invite your friends and family. If they don’t have a church home, tell them New Hope is the place to be this week. We’ll even have food!
Breakfast Spread at 8:40 AM in the Gallery
The Fellowship Team has put together a nice selection of breakfast treats that will be available starting at 8:40 AM. Our Sunday Connect Groups are still meeting, but donuts, bagels, muffins, and other pastries will be ready to eat throughout the hour leading up to the service. Even if you aren’t in a Sunday Connect Group, make plans to join us and hang out during this time.
It’s a Family Sunday!
Children and Students will have their normal meeting time before the service (8:45 AM to 9:45 AM), but everyone will be in the sanctuary together during the worship hour. We have a few special things planned to keep the kids engaged, and the kids will be treating all of us to a special song that they will be singing.
At the end of the service, we will celebrate four baptisms. I can’t think of a better way to dedicate a new sanctuary than with the baptizing of believers!
There is a Cloud (A New Song for Worship)
Finally, did you know that Scripture often refers to rain as a sign of blessing? The reason is because rain brings life. It waters the seeds that have been planted. It brings newness into the world. Michael W Smith wrote a song a few years ago that talked about God sending a ‘Healing Rain’ when people need it. These words from the song ring true for us.
“Healing rain, it comes with fire
So let it fall and take us higher.
Healing rain, I’m not afraid
To be washed in Heaven’s rain.”
Elevation Church recently put out a song called ‘There is a Cloud’. I wrote about it in one of these blogs a month or two ago. This Sunday we will sing the song to open our time of worship. There certainly has been a time when a cloud seemed to be forming, and now we prepare our hearts to receive the blessing of rain that will come from these spiritual clouds. Rain brings life. Rain brings the harvest. Lord, we RECEIVE Your Rain! Please do me a favor and give this song a listen a few times before the weekend. Be ready to sing it as we open the service, and be ready to feel the Holy Spirit fill the room!
I’m ready for this Celebration Sunday! Are you?
