Connect Groups and the Upcoming Break

July 23, 2018

Greetings church family. Well, it has been just over a year now since my family came back home to Tennessee and into community with New Hope. And what an amazing year it has been! I am so thankful to each of you for helping us make the transition. Up until now, we had been in three homes in the past three years, just searching for a place to put down roots. Thankfully, we are now in that place. Thank you for loving us into our new home!

So, we have now seen a full year (3 semesters) of Connect Groups. It has been so amazing to see how hungry New Hope is to growing closer to each other and to our Savior Jesus Christ. During this latest Summer semester of Groups, we had 92% of individuals attending New Hope involved in a Connect Group. If you don’t know how uncommon that is, let me tell you…It’s crazy uncommon!! Most churches are doing good to be in the 60% range. But not you…92%! That means more people than ever are taking advantage of the opportunity to meet new people & grow deeper in their relationship with Christ. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for this Fall and the future ahead here at New Hope!

I wanted to take a moment to let you in on a little “inside” knowledge regarding our group semesters. As you know by now, each of the 3 semesters is 12 weeks long, leaving anywhere from 5-7 weeks off between semesters. This “break” period is very important to our overall health. For those of us with children, we have been living with these natural breaks in our year since the kids started to school. It’s a natural part of our lives, and it gives us the needed “breather” that we need to keep on keepin’ on. There are 3 very important bi-products that come as a result of these needed breaks between group semesters…

1. It gets more people into groups and allows for greater spiritual Connections.

  • People are more likely to sign up for something that they can see an end to, and these breaks serve as a needed time to focus on signing up for the next semester.

2. It creates new opportunities to make friends & grow.

  • Allowing for movement to a new group gives people the opportunity to broaden their group of friends and learn something new.

3. It leads to long-term health for current leaders while making room for new leaders.

  • Stress & Release Principle

Breaks are an important and healthy part of our lives. It gives us the needed time to re-coup, re-think, and re-up. During the Connect Group breaks, Our New Hope students will not meet during the 8:45 hour, and will continue to come with their families to the 10am service. New Hope Kids will also not meet at the 8:45am hour, but will continue to meet in the children’s wing during the 10am service. Both the students and kids will continue to meet per normal during Wednesday nights at 6pm. The new Connect Group Fall semester will start on September 9th with everyone back to meeting at the 8:45 hour.

At times, during these breaks, we may offer some church-wide events. Keep an eye out for announcements in future emails, on our website and during the Sunday morning service announcements.

It’s my prayer that God would continue to fill each of us up just as much during the Connect Group breaks as he has been doing throughout the Connect Group semesters. And don’t forget to sign up for a new Fall Connect Group on Sunday, August 5th.

“9There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their work, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest…”-Hebrews 4:9-11

Blessings in the Break!
